PMA 11 POLYMER-CEMENT ADHESIVE-MESH MORTAR: For producing a reinforced layer with mesh and bonding polystyrene panels in the IBB THERM system.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND MORTAR APPLICATION: PMA 11 is a powder mixture of selected mineral aggregates, cement, synthetic fibre reinforcement, additives and chemical admixtures. The mortar is a component of the ETICS system for thermal insulation of buildings. The product is designed for bonding and rendering (with glass fibre mesh reinforcements) of white and graphite polystyrene panels (EPS) on the following substrates: concrete, cement and cement-lime plaster, ceramic or silicate brick walls, cellular concrete blocks and aerated concrete blocks, etc. For external and internal use.
SUBSTRATE ANDMORTAR PREPARATION: The substrate must be dry, solid and free of dust, oil, bitumen, paint coatings, poorly adherent layers and mould. Level any unevenness with products compatible with the substrate. All substrates must have a stable moisture content and have completed the curing process. To absorbent substrates apply a primer, e.g. IBB THERM AP10. Pour approx. 5.5 - 6.0 litres of water into a clean container and while mixing pour 25 kg of dry mixture (approx. 0.22 - 0.24 litres of water per 1 kg of powder). Stir with a slow speed mixer (max. 500 rpm) until a homogeneous mass is obtained and leave to stand for about 5 minutes. Stir again, possibly correcting the consistency with a little water. The addition of anything other than water is not permitted. Mixed mortar must not be re-mixed with water or fresh mortar.
BONDING POLYSTYRENE BOARDS: Use polystyrene boards according to the ETA designation EPS (TR 100). Apply a continuous mortar strip 1 - 2 cm thick and min. 3.0 cm high around the panel and "cakes" of 8 - 12 cm in diameter at three / six points in the center of the slab. Apply the board to the substrate and press it on evenly. The total surface area of the adhesive application on the board should be at least 40 % and the thickness of the glue should be up to 10 mm.Lay out the panels horizontally and staggered in rows. At least 24 hours after bonding the polystyrene panels (3 - 6 days in cold conditions), reinforce the bonding with special anchors - according to the technical design and ITB instructions. In general, we recommend using no less than 4 anchors/m2, and 6 - 8 anchors/m² in edge zones and plinths. The depth of anchorage of the dowels in compact grounds has to be at least 6 cm and at least 8 cm in light substrates (e.g. aerated concrete).
EXECUTION OF THE REINFORCED LAYER: Sand the polystyrene foam with coarse-grained sandpaper or a special grater until the surface is even before applying the base coat. Apply the layer after 3 days and no later than 3 months after the bonding of the polystyrene panels . Apply the mortar to the polystyrene boards with a notched trowel and work the glass fibre fabric, which must meet the ETA requirements, into the fresh adhesive layer and smooth the layer with the smooth side of the trowel. Lay subsequent strips with 10 cm overlap. The thickness of the joint layer should be approx. 3 mm and the mesh should not be visible. Avoid strong sunlight, wind and rain during the work. Wash off fresh mortar stains soiling with water. Clean off cement stains with TILE CLEANER.
STORAGE: Store PMA 11 in a dry and sheltered place. In the original closed bags it is kept for at least 12 months. Protect from humidity.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: The product contains cement and when mixed with water gives an alkaline reaction. Protect eyes and skin when working. In case of eye contamination, rinse immediately with clean water and consult a doctor.
